Watching it a second time, it went better than I thought at first; on balance, it can only help the campaign.

If nothing else, I don’t think BO can paint RP with the same treason brush that he uses to smear Rosie O’donnell, et al--i.e., rooting for failure because the Republicans must lose at all costs.

BO scored a superficial 1/2 point that M.A.D., which held the Soviets in check, isn’t applicable to the current situation with Iran.

But the biggest missed opportunity was when BO backed himself into a corner, IMO, with, “if you think we can withdraw from the Gulf and there’s not going to be any more terrorism, then you’re living in the dreamland…” RP could have SMASHED this back at him overhanded, but (understandably) got diverted and lost his cool a little after the spurious Afghanistan comment. It went downhill a little, but he recovered nicely before the end.

No out-to-lunch O’Reilly fans had to be converted for this to be a success, only helping RP to become a household name, and an apparent stalemate adequately suited the purpose.

I was as underwhelmed the 2nd time as the first.  Your blow by blow was pretty good though Josh. I thought of a few things to write but then figured what the heck it speaks for itself.

I did wonder though... is it me or is there some attempt at subliminal messaging by running the footage of the Radical Islamic American Haters shouldering RPG's while Paul was talking?

Look on the bright side: Paul said nothing damaging, but O'reilly can now forevermore be referred to as "Bill-we don't need the history lesson-O'reilly."

Yeah, the MiniTrue tactic is pretty appalling, but it tends to backfire, IMO. While they roll the clip, Paul's narration is al Quaeda is growing due to US policy and this threatens national security, and the clip reinforces this point.
